    Privacy Policy

    Effective date and last updated: October 15, 2026

    This Privacy Policy explains how Sarafand Tech LLC (“Sarafand,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the EPA 608 Mastery Pro mobile application for iOS and Android (the “App”) and any messages you send us about it. By downloading or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. Your use of the App is also governed by our Terms of Service.

    In short

    • Your study data — answers, progress, notes, bookmarks, exam date and optional first name — stays on your device. We never receive it.
    • There is no account and no sign-in. The App does not ask for your email or phone number, and the first name it asks for is optional.
    • The App has no advertising, no advertising identifiers, no location tracking, and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools.
    • The only information that leaves your device automatically is purchase information, so Apple or Google and RevenueCat can confirm whether you have unlocked Premium, and, on iPhone and iPad, a token that tells us whether one of our ads in the App Store led to your download. We never see your card details.
    • We do not sell your personal information and do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

    1. Who we are

    The App is published by Sarafand Tech LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company. Sarafand is the business responsible for the App and, for users in places that use the term, the “controller” of any personal information described in this policy that we ourselves receive. You can reach us at info@sarafandtech.com or by post at the address in the Contact section.

    EPA 608 Mastery Pro is an independent educational product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or any certifying organization.

    2. What stays on your device

    The App keeps the following in its private storage on your device. It is never sent to us, and we have no access to it:

    • your answers to practice questions, quiz and mock-exam results, and section scores — to track your progress, show readiness and history, and choose what to review;
    • bookmarks and notes you add to questions;
    • your flashcard review schedule;
    • your study streak, last study date and target exam date — for the streak counter, the exam countdown, the study plan and the home-screen widget;
    • a first name, only if you choose to enter one, to greet you;
    • what you tell the App after your exam date (passed, not yet, or a new date), so it stops asking;
    • your settings (such as appearance, sounds, haptics and reminder time) and which features you have unlocked, including whether an access code unlocked Premium.

    Device backups. Your device’s own backup services, such as iCloud Backup or Google’s Android backup, may include this data, depending on your settings. Those backups are made and stored by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies; we cannot access or control them.

    Deleting it. Settings → Reset All Progress deletes your answers, bookmarks, notes, flashcard schedules, session history and streak. Deleting the App removes everything it keeps on your device, apart from any device backups.

    3. Permissions the App asks for

    • Notifications — only if you turn on study reminders: a daily reminder at the time you choose, and one the evening before your exam date. Reminders are scheduled on your device by its operating system; no push server is involved and nothing is sent to us. The App sends no marketing or promotional notifications.
    • Adding to your photo library (iPhone and iPad) — only if you share your “I passed” card and choose Save Image. The App can add that one image; it cannot see your photos.

    The App does not ask for location, contacts, camera, microphone or tracking permission, or to see your photos. On Android it also declares standard permissions that need no approval, including internet and network-state access and Google Play billing (for purchases), vibration (for reminder notifications), and running at startup (to restore your reminder after the phone restarts). You can change notification permission in your device’s settings at any time.

    4. Purchases and RevenueCat

    The App offers optional in-app purchases, such as a one-time Premium unlock. Payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive or store your payment card number, billing address or store account password.

    We use RevenueCat, Inc. (“RevenueCat”) as a service provider to validate purchases and tell the App whether Premium is active. When the App starts or returns to the foreground, and when you open the Premium screen, make a purchase or restore a purchase, the App contacts RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives:

    • a random, anonymous purchase ID that RevenueCat generates for your installation, shown at the bottom of the App’s Privacy Policy screen;
    • purchase, transaction and receipt information from Apple or Google;
    • which screen of the App the purchase was made from (for example the welcome screens or a locked section), so we can see which offers work;
    • basic technical information, such as device type, operating system and App version, and your store country, locale and currency.

    As with any internet connection, RevenueCat’s servers also receive your device’s IP address. RevenueCat uses this information to validate and restore purchases, prevent fraud and give us aggregated sales reports. It does not receive your study data, notes or first name. We do not associate the purchase ID with your name, email address or anything else that identifies you, unless you send it to us yourself, for example in a deletion request.

    Apple Ads attribution. On iPhone and iPad, the App also gives RevenueCat an attribution token from Apple’s AdServices framework. RevenueCat sends it to Apple, and Apple replies whether the App was downloaded after an Apple Ads ad for it in the App Store and, if so, which of our campaigns, ad groups and keywords the ad belonged to. The token contains no advertising identifier, and the reply describes our ad, not you. RevenueCat keeps it with the purchase ID, so we can see in aggregate which of our ads lead to purchases. The App does not ask for tracking permission, and without it Apple provides only this standard attribution. On Android, nothing like this is sent.

    5. Services we use

    • RevenueCat, Inc. — validates purchases, tells the App whether Premium is active and, on iPhone and iPad, reports which of our Apple Ads ads led to downloads, as described above.
    • Apple App Store and Google Play — distribute the App and process payments.
    • Your device’s own services — notifications, the rating prompt, the share sheet, backups and your email app — which Apple, Google or your email provider operate.

    Each handles information under its own privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy, https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ and https://policies.google.com/privacy. The App contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools; the Apple Ads attribution described above is its only measurement.

    6. Information you choose to send us

    Question reports. “Report a problem with this question” opens your own email app with a pre-filled message: the question’s ID, section, content version and text, the problem type you selected, and any details you typed. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send that email from your email app. If no email app is available, the App copies the report to your clipboard instead.

    Emails. If you email us, we receive your email address, any name shown by your email provider, the content of your message and anything you attach. We use it only to respond to you, handle your request, investigate and correct content, and improve the App. Please do not send us sensitive personal information.

    Sharing. If you tell the App you passed, it can make a picture of your result for you to share, with a link to the App. It goes only where you send it through your device’s share sheet; nothing is sent to us.

    7. Rating prompts and the home-screen widget

    The App may ask your device to show Apple’s or Google’s standard rating prompt. Ratings and reviews are handled by Apple or Google under their own terms, and we do not receive your identity from the prompt. The home-screen widget, where available, reads only your study streak, last study date and target exam date from the App’s storage on the same device.

    8. Information we do not collect

    We do not collect, and the App does not send us:

    • your study data, notes, bookmarks or first name;
    • precise or approximate location;
    • contacts, photos, camera, microphone, files or calendar;
    • advertising identifiers (IDFA or Android Advertising ID). The App does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites and does not ask for tracking permission;
    • usage analytics, crash logs or diagnostics.

    The App does not show advertising.

    9. How we use information

    We use the limited information we receive — purchase information and Apple Ads attribution from RevenueCat, and messages you send us — only to:

    • provide the App and the features you bought, including validating and restoring purchases;
    • prevent fraud and abuse;
    • respond to your messages and requests, and investigate and correct reported content;
    • understand aggregated sales and improve the App;
    • learn, in aggregate, which of our ads in the App Store lead to downloads and purchases, so we spend only on ads that help people find the App;
    • comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights, property and safety of Sarafand, our users and others.

    We do not use your information to target or show you advertising, to build a profile of you, or for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you. Apple Ads attribution only tells us which of our own ads work.

    10. How information is disclosed

    We do not sell personal information and do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws. We disclose information only:

    • to service providers that process it for us under contract, such as RevenueCat and our email provider;
    • to Apple and Google, as needed to process and verify purchases and, on iPhone and iPad, to look up Apple Ads attribution;
    • for legal reasons: to comply with law, a subpoena, court order or other legal process, to respond to lawful requests from public authorities, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Sarafand, our users or others;
    • in a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization or sale of assets, subject to this policy;
    • with your consent or at your direction.

    11. Where your data is kept

    Your study data stays on your device. The App is operated from the United States, and RevenueCat and our email provider process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. If you use the App from another country, the limited information described here is transferred to, stored in and processed in those countries, whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live.

    12. How long we keep data

    • Study data on your device: until you delete the App. Reset All Progress deletes your progress sooner but keeps your first name and exam date.
    • Purchase records held by RevenueCat, Apple and Google: for as long as needed to provide purchased features and restore purchases, and as their policies and legal obligations require.
    • Apple Ads attribution held by RevenueCat: with the purchase records for the same purchase ID, and deleted with them.
    • Messages you send us: as long as needed to respond and keep reasonable business records, then deleted unless the law requires us to keep them.

    13. Deleting your data

    On your device. Settings → Reset All Progress deletes your study progress. Deleting the App removes everything it keeps on your device, including your first name and exam date.

    Purchase records. Email info@sarafandtech.com with the purchase ID shown at the bottom of the App’s Privacy Policy screen. We will ask RevenueCat to delete the records linked to it within 30 days and confirm by email. Your purchase itself stays with your Apple or Google account: deleting these records does not refund it, and Restore Purchases creates a new record. Apple and Google keep their own purchase history under their policies.

    Messages. Ask us, and we will delete your emails unless the law requires us to keep them.

    14. Security

    Study data is kept in the App’s private storage and protected by your device’s operating-system security and encryption. Communication with RevenueCat is encrypted (HTTPS). We use reasonable safeguards for the limited information we receive. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will give the notice the law requires.

    You are responsible for the security of your device, its passcode, your store accounts and your backups. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for unauthorized access that results from the loss, theft or compromise of your device or accounts, or from the acts of third parties we do not control.

    15. Your choices and rights

    Your data and notifications. You control your study data: view it in the App, reset it, or delete the App. You can turn notifications on or off at any time.

    Privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know about, access, correct, delete or get a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to opt out of certain processing, and to appeal our decision on a request. To the extent those laws apply to us, email info@sarafandtech.com, including your purchase ID where your request concerns purchase records. We will verify requests as the law permits and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows; we may ask for proof of the agent’s authority.

    Tracking signals. We do not track users across other companies’ apps or websites, so we do not treat “Do Not Track” signals differently, and the App does no processing that a Global Privacy Control signal would opt you out of.

    Users in the EEA and UK. Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on performance of a contract (validating and providing purchases), our legitimate interests (preventing fraud, responding to messages, improving the App and protecting our rights), legal obligation, and consent where required. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

    16. Children

    The App is for HVAC/R technicians, trade students and other adults preparing for professional certification. It is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets a higher age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

    17. Third-party services and links

    The App relies on, and may link to, services operated by others, such as Apple, Google, RevenueCat, government websites and your email app. Their collection and use of information is governed by their own policies, not this one. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices or security of third-party services.

    18. Changes to this policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy, for example to reflect changes in the App or in the law. We will publish the updated version and change the date above. If a change materially expands how we collect or use personal information, we will give additional notice, for example in the App, and ask for your consent where the law requires it. Your continued use of the App after an update takes effect means the updated policy applies to you.
